England vs Wales – Preview

The time is now…

The time is finally upon us. England vs Wales. The match kicks off today at 2pm and is live on BBC1. This is probably the most anticipated match of the tournament so far and is set to be an exciting encounter.

A close encounter?

England may be the favourites on paper, beating Wales in most of their previous encounters, however this is unlikely to be a routine win for England. Wales are highly dangerous, and have a stronger team than those that have previously faced England. The main threat comes from Gareth Bale. The Real Madrid player has already scored in the tournament and is one of the best players in the world. If England are to win they will have to stop him from playing at his best. However Wales are not just a one man team, they are made up players from various Premier League clubs including Aaron Ramsay of Arsenal. This is a team of players who are used to playing at a high level, and having already beaten Slovakia will be high on confidence. They are going to be very difficult to beat.

We want Vardy

England impressed many in their first game of the tournament against Russia. But although they kept the ball well they didn’t create many clear cut chances. Against Wales they will need to be more ruthless in front of goal if they are to succeed. It would be nice to see Jamie Vardy make an appearance as he has had such a good season and is always a threat with his pace and determination.

Prediction

I predict a close encounter between these two sides. England SHOULD win, but it won’t be easy. If England can stop Gareth Bale then I predict a 3-1 win for England, however it could easily go the other way!
