Euro 2016 Final
After a great tournament we finally know which two teams will face each other in the final of Euro 2016, Portugal and France. It isn’t too much of a surprise that France made the final, however Portugal weren’t expected to get there.
Route to the final…
Portugal 1 – 1 Iceland
Christiano Ronaldo complained about the way Iceland played, but its fair to say Portugal did not impress in this game.
Portugal 0 – 0 Austria
Another underwhelming performance say Portugal scrape another draw.
Hungary 3 – 3 Portugal
In one of the games of the tournament, Portugal kept going behind, but managed to draw level each time. There were some amazing goals in this game.
Round of Last 16
Croatia 0 – 1 Portugal
Croatia were tipped to go far after beating Spain in the group stages. However they just couldn’t score against Portugal. The match went to extra time before Quaresma scored just before the end.
Poland 1 – 1 Portugal (Portugal won 5 – 3 on penalties)
Another underwhelming performance by Portugal saw them go through to the semi finals on penalties
Portugal 2 – 0 Wales
Wales were missing a few of their key players through suspension, and rarely worried the Portuguese defence.
France 2 – 1 Romania
After a relatively boring first half, the game came to life in the second, seeing Payet score one of the goals on the tournament to seal victory in the last minute.
France 2 – 0 Albania
This match looked to be heading to a nil nil draw until 2 late goals snatched victory for France.
Switzerland 0 – 0 France
France were already through to the last 16 by this point.
Round of Last 16
France 2 – 0 Rep of Ireland
After going behind early on, France came out in the second half and turned this match around. Rep of Ireland were not helped by receiving red card half way through the second half
France 5 – 2 Iceland
Iceland had done amazingly well to get this far. However France were just too strong on this occasion
France 2 – 0 Germany
After failing to beat Germany in a major tournament since 1958, France finally did it, to book their place in the final!
We predict a close encounter with both teams scoring. However we believe France will be too strong for Portugal and will therefore win 3-1.
